Workshop:
Recreation & Leisure Programming for People with Autism
September 26-28, 2017
This 3-day course is designed to provide participants with an understanding of the unique learning style of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as a foundation for supporting these individuals in recreational and leisure settings. The content of this course is based on the use of the UNC-CH TEACCH Autism Program’s principles of structured teaching. Strategies for teaching communication, independence, relaxation and social/leisure skills will be emphasized.

The Tuesday - Thursday course is being hosted by the historic Christmount Retreat, Camp, and Conference Center in Black Mountain, NC. Participants and “campers” will participate in structured hikes, adapted indoor and outdoor activities, and “music and motion” in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.

Cost
Rates with lodging include Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights in an on-site motel room with two queen beds, breakfast and lunch Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Single occupancy: $525
Double occupancy: $360
Commuters: $195 (includes lunch Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday)
